Dear Editor,
An incorrect assumption has been proffered about an individual who does not share your particular point of view. Should I assume someone who calls you a socialist be considered a wannabe communist because they align with a president who seems to hold Putin in high esteem? When some individuals in the population overlook the president’s continual lying, deliberate obstructions of congressional inquiries, but then seem jubilant over their anticipated social security raises (a socialist program if ever there was one). Perhaps those individuals should not be questioning others political proclivities. It was Trump’s professor of marketing at Wharton College, William Kelley who told his friend Frank DiPalma, “Donald Trump was the dumbest g-d d—-d student I ever had.” Idolize him if you want. It is no wonder we are such a divided nation politically.
I write because there are conflicting but valid opinions about governance. I mention the Treaty of Tripoli and its aversion to including God in the articles because it is contra-indicative. People escaping religious persecution and tyranny from the Church of England would not be stupid enough to establish a form of government based on any religion. Apparently though, it makes perfect sense to some. Especially when attempting to make a point. Why let a few facts muddy the water, as the writer who said he and his Bible teacher found the word “…asserting” (in the Treaty) “Look that up.” Or “… a free nation under God. It’s in the Constitution.” Why make the reader question your veracity?
Please consider this. If a president is allowed to govern as he or she sees fit without any regard to established law under the belief he or she is above the law with no consequences what so ever, then then the next democratic president will do the exact same thing and the republicans will be looking to remove him or her! It started with Obama’s presidency. Make him resort to presidential edicts to get anything accomplished. Make him a one-term president, impeach him, etc. Now the Trump administration is facing the exact same treatment and republicans are crying foul. Where and how does it cease?
I want an America where discourse is civil not filled with animus and character assassination, where women get equal pay for doing the same work as a man, where a woman and her doctor decide if she gets an abortion, or what type of birth control she should be able to use (can’t leave that up to the men), nor government agencies which proclaim less government interference in our lives is desirable, then try to tell us who we may marry, still proclaiming less government is best. America where education is as “nearly free as possible” per the Arizona Constitution; and students should not be saddled with years of crushing debt to get an education, elementary schools that do not require mass shooting drills because our elected officials cannot divorce themselves from the lucrative association with the NRA. Give me medical care in a hospital where I don’t pay $20 for an aspirin, and where doctors can treat their patients without government meddling, monies allocated for social security are not used for other things, we respect gold star families and don’t pretend to prefer our heroes who were not captured, and presidents don’t hide their taxes or put their inexperienced family members in executive positions in government while allowing them to engage in business with China but suspect vice presidents of skullduggery when they do essentially the same. Where politicians respect the majority of the citizenry opinions on gun control and voters actually elect their president, not an Electoral College.
Now for 10 lies:
- Obama was born in Kenya (Hawaii).
- I graduated top of my class at Wharton.
- Most Mexicans are rapists or drug dealers (immigrant families).
- Mexico will pay for the wall (I’ll just transfer a few million from military).
- There were more people at my inauguration than at Obama’s (picture proof).
- I never paid Stormy Daniels one dime, ask my attorney.
- I have no reason not to trust Putin over the FBI’s findings.
- I have nothing to do with the Russians (Russia If you are listening).
- The meeting in Trump Tower was about adopting Russian children.
- Trump University teaches how to make a fortune in real estate ($25 million cost in fines).
- I’m raising money for veterans (which they never got, $2 million fine).
- Most recent “quid pro quo”.
Please feel free to correct me if I’ve made a mistake.

p.s. To the writer of Dystopia, you can find it wherever you look, not just in California anywhere you have priests preying on innocent children, illicit drug use, boy scouts being abused (once a bastion of anti homosexuality sentiment) mass shootings, disparate treatment of women, prisons for the mentally insane instead of treatment, outrageous health care and medication costs leading to bankruptcy, racial prejudice, road rage, and yes people relieving themselves in the streets, because leaders won’t provide porta-potties, which allow conservatives to assert our failures as a society, is because of socialism.
