CASA of Arizona needs more volunteers

PHOENIX – In its ongoing effort to recruit more volunteers towards the goal that every child in Arizona’s foster care system should have an advocate by their side, the state Court Appointed Special Advocate program (CASA) launched two commercials last month to be seen throughout the state.
It’s also an opportunity for CASA of Arizona to remind others this holiday season of the joy that comes with advocating for a child in foster care and that no matter where you live in the state, you can volunteer and change a life, just by being there.
When a child is removed from the only home they have ever known and placed into foster care, they need someone who can not only provide consistency, but also champion for their best interests. CASA volunteers dedicate themselves to representing these children in court by offering valuable insights to the judge who can make significant decisions impacting the child’s future.
Children and youth assigned a CASA volunteer reported high levels of hope. A child’s hope has been linked to numerous positive outcomes such as academic success, overall wellbeing, positive social relationships, and optimism. A CASA can bring this hope to a child.
While many children are celebrating the holidays with their families, hundreds in foster care are waiting for a safe, permanent home. You can be part of their journey towards stability. This season, give the gift of your time and dedication to becoming a CASA volunteer.
Presently, there are hundreds of children in Arizona awaiting a CASA volunteer.
CASA volunteers do not need any prior special training and come from all walks of life. Anyone 21 years of age or older, who can pass a thorough background check and complete 30 hours of training, is encouraged to apply.

I-40/US 93 interchange starts taking shape in Kingman

KINGMAN – A project to construct a free-flowing interchange between Interstate 40 and US 93 is quickly transforming the landscape along I-40 in this northwest Arizona community, with crews clearing land for new travel lanes, removing sound walls and preparing the foundations for new bridges.
This progress comes six months into the Arizona Department of Transportation’s $106 million project to eliminate delays that can occur for passenger and truck traffic on the main route between Las Vegas and Arizona. Instead of traffic stopping for a traffic signal on Beale Street at I-40,
