Martinez sentenced to six years

A Bullhead City man who admits sexually motivated touching of his step-grand daughter asked for probation during his sentencing hearing April 5. Pedro Martinez, 75, told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle that he hoped to return home to his wife after spending more than a half year in the county jail.     Judge Carlisle ordered a six year prison term and lifelong sex offender registration for Martinez. Book sale to benefit the Mohave County Library Kingman Branch.

A gigantic Friends of the Library book sale will be held indoors at the Mohave County Fairgrounds, 2600 Fairgrounds Ave., Kingman.  The sale will be open to the public Friday and Saturday, May 10 and May 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Charge cards will be accepted. Members will receive a 10% discount Friday, and a 20% discount Saturday.  (Non-members can join upon entry.) Eder convicted; sentencing May 10

The former chief of a north Kingman-based rural fire district faces possible incarceration following conviction at trial in Mohave County Superior Court. The jury deliberated for about thirty minutes Friday before finding Wayne Eder, 55, guilty of conflict of interest, a class 6 felony.    Eder was interim chief and was an applicant to be hired as full time chief when he was involved in having a repair shop owned by governing board member Vic Riccardi attempt to fix a Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District (NACFD) brush truck in April, 2017. Stockton Hill Road Update

Crews completed all of the waterline testing and we are awaiting regulatory approval from the state. Next week crews will be doing miscellaneous concrete work throughout the project and will begin prepping areas for final tie ins. The traveling public will see small work zones set up as they work on these items. Construction on the culvert is progressing well, and crews switched traffic control to the other side of Stockton Hill Road to begin working on the west side. River Cities United Way is hosting its 10th annual Golf Tournament at Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course in Kingman on Saturday, May 4th. This fundraising event is open to the public with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.   4-Man Scramble at $80 per participant will include 18 holes, golf cart, and pulled pork lunch.  A payout is the top two teams and the highest score prize.  There will be raffle prizes, and a 50/50 drawing.
