City of Kingman looking to change areas to annex

The City of Kingman is embarking upon a new annexation strategy. Manager Ron Foggin has indicated that the leadership team at City Hall is recommending focus on property near the proposed Kingman Crossing and Rancho Santa Fe Interstate 40 Interchanges, while putting Kingman High School and the municipal airport and industrial park “on the backburner.” Foggin said it has been determined, as it has before, that bringing the high school and airport into the city is a losing proposition financially, until the city adds a new revenue generation mechanism. Board of Supervisors approves animal shelter in split vote

A broad ranging discussion of animal shelter issues stretched over a two hour portion of Monday’s Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting. Animal control advocates urged the Board to approve supervisor Jean Bishop’s proposal to allocate up to $3-million to construct a new and improved shelter where the current facility operates in downtown Kingman. Supervisors Buster Johnson and Ron Gould were in the minority of a 3-2 vote approving use of up to $2-million for an improved shelter. Mohave Community College unveiled its new Electrical building and certificate program Thursday during a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on the Neal Campus-Kingman. Over 180 members attend MEC annual meeting

Mohave Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting featured a great deal of praise for both its members and staff as MEC CEO Tyler Carlson presented both past success stories and current issues members should heed. Carlson discussed the cost increase in wholesale purchased power in 2018 that resulted in the lowering of the Purchased Power Adjustor credit.
