The City of Kingman is embarking upon a new annexation strategy. Manager Ron Foggin has indicated that the leadership team at City Hall is recommending focus on property near the proposed Kingman Crossing and Rancho Santa Fe Interstate 40 Interchanges, while putting Kingman High School and the municipal airport and industrial park “on the backburner.” Foggin said it has been determined, as it has before, that bringing the high school and airport into the city is a losing proposition financially, until the city adds a new revenue generation mechanism. Rancho Santa Fe Interchange Funding The City of Kingman is hosting a news conference alongside State Representative Regina Cobb to discuss the appropriated $20 million for the Rancho Santa Fe interchange. The news conference will be held at the upstairs conference room at the Powerhouse Visitor’s Center, Thursday, June 20 at 5:30pm. Mohave Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting featured a great deal of praise for both its members and staff as MEC CEO Tyler Carlson presented both past success stories and current issues members should heed. Carlson discussed the cost increase in wholesale purchased power in 2018 that resulted in the lowering of the Purchased Power Adjustor credit. The Cornerstone Mission Thrift Store has recently been renovated inside and out. Having the staff and volunteers close in the process every step of the way made a big difference in moving the project along. They’re now open and looking forward to sharing the store with the community. Cornerstone Mission Thrift Store exemplifies the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle, by helping to reduce what ends up in landfills and providing donors with a meaningful opportunity to give back.
