Feliz acquitted in drug case; faces additional charges

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man was found not guilty late Thursday at the conclusion of his drug trial in Kingman. A Superior Court jury deliberated about two hours before acquitting Timmy Feliz, 47, at the Mohave County Courthouse.

Feliz had been charged with possession of dangerous drugs. Prosecutor Kellen Marlow said an ounce of methamphetamine seized during a May 22, 2019 traffic stop belonged to Feliz.

A drug dog alerted on the vehicle after it was pulled over in the vicinity of Kearsage Drive and Bonanza Drive. There was no dispute that the meth was located under the passenger seat occupied by Feliz.

Defense attorney Randall Craig told the jury that the state could not prove that Feliz was responsible for the drugs. Moreover, Craig argued it could not be shown that Feliz was even aware that any drugs were in the vehicle.

While Feliz was cleared in the trial before Judge Rick Lambert, he still faces prosecution in unrelated 2018 cases.

Feliz is charged with drug offenses in one case and with aggravated assault charges in a separate case for allegedly injuring two people during a baseball bat attack at a Tonto Drive residence.
