Elizabeth (Betty) Clair Cox

Elizabeth (Betty) Clair Cox, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Betty was born on September 8, 1939, in Taos, New Mexico to John and Maize Knaack. 

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, William (Bill) Cox, who passed away in June of 2026. Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, dedicated homemaker, strong business owner and cherished member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. She was known for her deep faith in the Lord, kindness, humor, resilience and touched the lives of so many. 

Survived by her four children Mike, Bodie, Julie and John, her nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. 

A viewing and prayer service will be held at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, October 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 13 at 11:30 a.m.

Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
