Sandra “Sandi” Peterson Hann was born on December 25, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa, and passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, following a brief illness. She was 86 years old. Sandi’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and a sense of fun, which gave her an incredible ability to connect with people wherever she went.
Sandi was the beloved daughter of Homer and Violet Peterson. She graduated from Waterloo High School in 1958, embarking on a journey that would lead her to touch countless lives with her unwavering positivity and generous heart.
In 1965, Sandi married the love of her life, Gary Hann, with whom she shared 28 years of marriage. Together, they built a life in La Puente, California, where they created many memories until Gary’s passing in 1993. Their lives were surrounded by family and friends. Though Gary left this world too soon, Sandi carried his memory with grace and continued to shine her light on those around her.
Sandi is survived by her son, Barry Johnson, and his wife Carol, and grandchildren, Josh and Abby Johnson. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Charlotte Savicky, Paula Herber, and Patty Murphy, with whom she shared a bond that only sisters can understand. Sandi was blessed by caring and close friends, Mike and Robin Handley, and many others.
Upon her retirement in 2010, Sandi moved to Kingman, AZ, where she found purpose in her church and various non-profit organizations that she quickly became involved in. Her faith was unwavering, and she found immense joy in giving back to the community. Sandi’s engaging and upbeat personality made it easy for her to form friendships wherever she went, and her circle of friends was a testament to her ability to touch hearts with her kindness and sincerity.
Sandi’s creative spirit shone brightly through her love for card making. She took great delight in crafting beautiful cards for her friends and family, each one a symbol of her thoughtfulness and affection.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sandi’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charitable organization of your choice, continuing her legacy of giving and compassion. Sandi’s memory will forever remain in our hearts, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
