Drug dealer gets four years

judge's gavel

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A California man who transported drugs to sell in Lake Havasu City was sentenced to the Arizona Department of Corrections on his 53rd birthday.

“I’ve done a lot of reflecting, this being my birthday today,” Bryan Keddy said during his March 26 sentencing hearing in Kingman. “I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life and my addiction leads me to it.”

Defense attorney Bob Heieck told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen that Keddy’s addiction and inability to work due to health issues drew him to the drug dealing arena for pecuniary gain. “That’s kind of what led to this,” Heieck said.

K9 Echo alerted during an open-air sniff after Lake Havasu City police pulled over the 2019 Honda Civic Keddy was driving in the vicinity of E Chenowith Drive and N Notting Hill Road on Feb. 4. A subsequent search produced discovery and seizure of one pound of methamphetamine and more than 18 grams of fentanyl.

A police report indicated that Keddy admitted bringing the drugs to sell for profit in Lake Havasu. He is convicted of attempted transportation of dangerous drugs for sale through a plea agreement.

Judge Jantzen said sseven different drug related arrests reveal a significant criminal history for Keddy. He imposed a four-year prison sentence, maximum punishment under terms of the plea deal.
