BULLHEAD CITY – Dozens of volunteers removed 7.94 tons of trash and debris from the desert along Silver Creek Road on Friday during the City of Bullhead City’s annual cleanup event, held in partnership with Golden Vertex, Republic Services, and the Bureau of Land Management on Friday, February 20. The entire event lasted just a few hours, kicking off at 7:30 a.m. and finishing at noon.
Volunteers worked alongside City staff and partner organizations to remove large items such as tires, discarded furniture, and electronic appliances, as well as smaller debris scattered throughout the desert. The collected waste filled three large dumpsters and a rear-load truck, all transported to the landfill by Republic Services.
“This event shows what we can accomplish when the community comes together,” said Karen Spletzer, Bullhead City administrative analyst and event organizer. “We’re grateful to every volunteer and partner who gave their time and resources to help protect our beautiful desert.”
The City extends its appreciation to Golden Vertex, Republic Services, and the Bureau of Land Management for their continued partnership and support in making the cleanup possible.
Residents are reminded that the City contracts with Republic Services for solid waste services. Bullhead City residents are entitled to six free bulky item pickups per year and may contact Republic Services directly to schedule the collection of large items from their homes
Additionally, the City hosts two free annual e-waste recycling and household hazardous waste disposal events, giving residents an opportunity to responsibly dispose of electronic, bulky, and hazardous materials at no charge.
