Krivak sentenced to 11 years after endangering children

Roxanne Krivak

Defense attorney Weston Meeth said alcohol dependency is the “recurring theme” of three criminal cases in three years that send a Fort Mohave woman to the Arizona Department of Corrections. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle imposed an 11-year prison sentence on March 5 for Roxanne Krivak, 36.

Krivak was placed on probation for driving drunk in 2015 when her five year-old son was a passenger. Her blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit when the truck she was driving struck a fence.

Judge Carlisle said Krivak was reinstated on probation for residing where numerous weapons were stored in 2016 when she was prohibited from doing so.

Prosecutor David Wayt said Krivak violated probation in both of those cases when she drove drunk again last June. Wayt said the same son, now 9, and her less than one-year-old baby were in the vehicle that Krivak crashed into another vehicle at Highway 95 and El Rodeo Road.

“This is a pattern of behavior that is very concerning,” Judge Carlisle said. He said Krivak should have learned more from her first drunk driving conviction.

Wayt said a breathalyzer reading after the incident last June measured Krivak’s blood alcohol content at .385, nearly five times above the legal limit. Through a plea agreement Krivak was convicted of extreme driving under the influence, child abuse and aggravated assault.
