Dear Editor,
We’re excited to announce that the “Reality Store” event is coming up on Wednesday, November 19, and we need your help to make it a success!
Reality Store is a live, interactive version of The Game of Life designed for 8th graders – approximately 600 students in our community. During this event, students are assigned a job title and income, and they experience the financial responsibilities that adults face, including:
* Paying taxes
* Securing housing and utilities
* Managing everyday essentials
* Acquiring insurance and transportation
* Making investment decisions
Additionally, they will learn to adapt to life’s unpredictable moments, such as going to drug rehab, filing for bankruptcy, losing everything in a fire, winning the lottery, or having more children. It’s a powerful way for students to gain insight into the complexities of adult life and financial decision-making.
We need your support to make this year’s Reality Store a success! You can donate needed items or contribute monetarily, and we’ll handle the shopping for you. Please visit our website to view the list of needed items and consider making a contribution. If you choose to donate an item(s), kindly drop them off at the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce at 309 E. Beale St. by or before October 31.
The event requires around 70 volunteers, most of whom return each year because they enjoy engaging with the students and contributing to this valuable experience.
Be a Volunteer! We also invite you to join us as a volunteer for this event. Whether you can spare a couple of hours or the entire day, your support makes a big difference! The event will be held on Wednesday, November 19th at 7:30 am-3:45 pm pm at Kingman Middle School, located at 1969 Detroit Ave. in Kingman, AZ. If you’re interested in volunteering, please provide your contact information through the Reality Store Portal, and a member of our team will reach out to discuss details.
Every contribution, big or small, helps to create a meaningful learning experience for our students.
How You Can Help:
* Donate an item(s) from our list and drop them off at our office by or before October 31.
* Make a monetary donation, and we’ll do the shopping for you.
* Volunteer your time
Thank you for your generosity and continued support of this impactful event. Together, we can help prepare our students for the rewards and challenges of adult life!
