Havasu teen killed by vehicle while riding bike

LAKE HAVASU CITY — A local teenager who was on a bicycle when struck by a vehicle in Lake Havasu City died of his injuries. Lake Havasu City police sergeant Kyle Ridgway said the incident occurred at 4:28 p.m. on September 5 at a prominent intersection.

“Investigation revealed that the bicyclist had stopped at the northwest corner of SR 95 and Mulberry Avenue, waiting to cross,” Ridgway said. “For reasons that remain unknown, the bicyclist entered the intersection before the crossing signal turned green.”

Ridgeway said a 2008 Cadillac CTS traveling through the intersection on a green light struck the bicyclist. “The driver reported that their view of the bicyclist was obstructed by vehicles in the turning lane,” he said.

The bicyclist identified as Andrew Kroschel,19, was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center where he subsequently died of his injuries. The accident investigation continues.
