BLM plans prescribed burning near Parker for rest of year

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Colorado River District will conduct prescribed burning near Parker, Arizona, periodically between September 8, 2025, and December 31, 2025, as weather and fuel conditions allow. The burn area is located seven miles northeast of Parker and one-half mile west of Parker Dam Road near Crossroads, on the California side of the Colorado River.

The removal and prescribed burning of vegetation piles help reduce the threat and spread of wildfires and improves access to the river. Burning may occur multiple times during this time to eliminate piles of vegetation accumulated during maintenance of BLM recreation sites and creation of fire breaks.

To ensure the safety of residents and visitors, BLM fire management personnel will ignite the piles when weather conditions are conducive to burning. Area residents and visitors may see some light smoke during the burn operation. Access to the burn area may be temporarily restricted during the operation to provide for public safety.

Follow our social media for updates on prescribed burn activities and more on BLM Arizona Facebook or X/Twitter.
