Politically speaking, I don’t agree with Jack Alexander!
Jack and I do however; agree on many other downtown Kingman business and community issues. I can appreciate his personal tenacity, his prolific writings and his love of Downtown, Kingman.
I have seen his business’ display of signs, flags, ball caps, patches and I can say we have had spirited debates with each of us defending our ideas of history vs. politics.
As of last week however, I became thoroughly disgusted with a picture Jack sent me of a sandwich-board style display sign splattered with dark brown paint, as if to represent feces.
Whether you like Jack as a person, his politics or his interpretation of history, defaming and defacing his property is not legal and it represents the worst of people who are incapable of voicing their discontent and dissatisfaction in a manner that any reasonable, mature person would consider respectful or meaningful.
In other words this is, simply a cowardice act of vandalism. There is no room in this country for acts of vandalism and hate.
Let me be perfectly clear, I can respectfully disagree with Jack; I can be really irritated that he doesn’t see things from my point of view and I’m sure he can say the same of me for the same reason.
Jack and I agree on one very fundamental issue; that as Americans, our forefathers, our retired and active men and women of our military have fought and continue to fight over the last 250 years, for me, you and for Jack to have the right to freedom of speech, religion and the pursuit of happiness. Don’t waste our rights in such a juvenile and immature fashion.
Kingman is better than these senseless acts of vitriol. You don’t have to agree with your neighbor, or the politics of the time, or any number of issues that get you all revved up. Use your words; start a meaningful conversation; cool and thoughtful heads will create a more sustainable understanding solution. You may not make a friend but, you may not make an enemy either.

Well said, iv know jack for many years and yeah we don’t agree on his politely views but he’s a good guy and really cares about our downtown community. And we welcome all the newcomers. But vandalism is wrong!!
