COLORADO CITY — A traffic fatality involving local residents in the north Mohave County community of Colorado City is being resolved in a probation guaranteed plea agreement. Alma Fischer, 66, pleaded guilty to a causing death by use of a vehicle charge during an August 27 hearing before Mohave County Superior Court judge Derek Carlisle.
A Colorado City police department report indicates Fischer’s driver’s license was expired and his motor vehicle insurance had lapsed when he caused the September 14, 2024 collision that resulted in the death of Boldan Barlow, 21.
The police narrative authored by investigating officer J. Davis said Fischer was eastbound on E Garden Avenue when he turned left onto Hildale Street into the path of the oncoming dirt bike that Barlow was driving southbound on Hildale Street. The dirt bike reportedly struck the driver’s side door panel of Fischer’s SUV.
Barlow was pronounced dead at the scene of his injuries.
“The defendant failed to yield properly and collided with the victim, causing his death,” said deputy Mohave County attorney Jacob Cote.
While Fischer will not be sentenced to prison, he could receive jail time when placed on probation at an October 3 sentencing hearing. Fischer also stipulated to a near $25,000 restitution payment.
