My Bob, Robert Alva Higbee IV, completed his Earthly journey with spiritual valor, honor, and courage as he walked the paths before him in faith and obedience to the Lord.
Bob was born in Elkins West Virginia to Robert Alva Higbee III and Patricia Jenkins Higbee, the first son following his sisters June and Barbara and later his brother Brad came along.
During his childhood the family moved around a bit, eventually settling in Greensboro, North Carolina. He participated in church activities, scouting, and basketball!! He and Brad along with enough others would slip into the church to play basketball, when they weren’t on the court with the Gilford High School team.
Bob served a faithful 2 year mission to the Uruguay Paraguay Mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
In 1976 the family moved to Ely Nevada where he met Sister “C” Cotchaleovitch, (Brenda) from the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. August 18, 1977 Bob and Brenda were married in the Provo Utah Temple. They settled down in Kingman, Arizona in 1978, Bob working in construction (Insulation). They were blessed by the arrival of Christopher Robert in 1983 and Andrew Lee in 1986 to complete their family. Bob loved his family dearly and worked tirelessly for them. He was an example to his boys of work and service, teaching them how to use tools and get jobs done. However they can be a bit dangerous in the kitchen making “Buckminsters” and other stuff that didn’t get a name and Brenda wouldn’t taste! Bob went on to operate his own company Higbee insulation for many years. He later worked for Cowboy Concrete and lastly CL Woodward LLC.
Bob served in many capacities in church teaching classes, scouts, serving as Bishop and served as 2nd Councilor in the Kingman Arizona Stake Presidency. One of his most memorable callings was when he and Brenda served in the Peach Springs Branch and Supai Canyon loving the members as they strengthened themselves and others. We can say he was not wild about helicopter rides into Supai Canyon at first.
Bob was preceded in death by his sister Barbara and brother Brad. Bob is survived by his wife Brenda Higbee, married for 48 years. His sons, grandchildren, Ryan and Ember, (Drew), Mason and Hank (Chris). Cynthia Attebery, Airon Register, Adrianne and Anastasia May. Sister June Hornick and many inlaws, nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Through his heritage Bob is a member if the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Through his upbringing he was a mannerly Southern Gentleman. He will be forever loved, remembered and missed. We were blessed to be his family. Interment will be in Shawnee Oklahoma at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Columbarium at a later date.
