KINGMAN — Three Kingman fire stations will be getting a remodel or a renovation this year.
Station 21 – Established in 1974, this 3,720-square-foot facility, located at 301 N. Fifth Street, is currently undergoing a remodel to ensure compliance with contemporary fire codes. As of early April, all personnel and apparatus have been temporarily relocated to Station 22. This adjustment means that dispatch has redirected calls for both Districts 21 and 22 to Station 22. Fire personnel are effectively managing these calls, rotating between Engine 221 and Engine 211 to guarantee prompt responses in their designated areas. The remodel is anticipated to be completed by the end of summer.
Station 23 – Built in 1996, Station 23 is situated at 4000 N. Sierra Road and encompasses 4,914 square feet. Renovations are currently in progress to bring the facility up to current fire codes. Fortunately, fire personnel are able to remain at this location during the renovations, allowing them to continue serving their response area with the same commitment and efficiency.
Station 24 – Constructed in 1987, this station is located at 302 Eastern Street and spans 3,459 square feet. The remodel is scheduled to commence in early June, necessitating the temporary relocation of fire personnel to a rental property within their response area. This means they will be residing in a house among neighbors, responding to calls from this new location until the remodel is complete and they can return to their station. While this arrangement allows them to remain within their response area, it may introduce new dynamics for the neighborhood. Residents can expect the presence of large fire apparatus, and when alarms are activated, the use of lights and sirens may take some adjustment for the community. The remodel is anticipated to be completed by the end of fall.
