VA benefits better than ever

letter to the editor

Dear Editor,

In regards to the recent letter from J.M. and her misinformation about veterans losing their benefits. Show it against the wall and see if it sticks. The Dems have been using it for decades. I served from ’67 to ’70. I’ve been in the VA medical system for the last 30 years. Things have gotten better over time until about two to three years ago (Biden-Harris regime).

They took away my travel pay, Bullhead to Las Vegas roundtrip $96.Gone because I make too much money! I make $20,000 a year. Poverty level VA-style is $15,000 a year. Also, same time they gave me a co-pay. I’m up to $400 now and twice they have sent me to collections. Don’t give me benefits for 30 years, then take them away.

To my surprise last Sunday I got a backpay of $7,400 as I was granted a 40 percent disability retroactive to eight months ago. Only eight months ago I asked for a review. I also got back my travel pay and no longer have a co-pay for meds.

Ms. J.M., that doesn’t sound like I’m losing any benefits. Thank you to President Trump for helping me and thousands of other old vets out of a big hole in our 70- to 80-year-old life. I get approximately $750 a month paycheck.

Thank you voters for putting Trump back in office. I lost benefits during the Biden-Harris term, bot them back with the Trump-Vance term.

My advice to J.M., quit throwing lies against the wall.

From a veteran who has gained benefits, now go after the fraud and waste in the VA system.

  1. THE PRESIDENT doesn’t set the budget for the VA — CONGRESS does. “about two to three years ago” Congress was REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED!
That REPUBLICAN CONGRESS did this for you — and they didn’t back in 1982 also!: “They took away my travel pay, Bullhead to Las Vegas roundtrip $96.Gone because I make too much money! I make $20,000 a year. Poverty level VA-style is $15,000 a year. Also, same time they gave me a co-pay. I’m up to $400 now and twice they have sent me to collections.
