Historians to give talk, “The Vanishing Trade Posts”

KINGMAN – Historians Chris Glenn and Sandy Sunseri will be speaking about an interesting topic at the Mohave County Library later this month. The talk is called “The Vanishing Trade Posts,” and will feature stories about the Colorado Plateau’s many trading posts throughout history.

In the early 1900’s, there were over a hundred trading posts on the Colorado Plateau. Today, that number is five. The talk will cover the many reasons why they disappeared, including the economic challenges on the reservation and across the country.

Glenn and Sunseri have been giving talks like this since 2012, when they completed their training at the Museum of Northern Arizona. Their talks often feature props and costumes along with many stories.

The talk will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22 at Mohave County Library. Address: 3269 N. Burbank St., Kingman.
