Kelso charged in roommate’s death

Don Earl Kelso

BULLHEAD CITY – An eviction-related quarrel reportedly fueled a Bullhead City homicide. 30-year-old Don Earl Kelso was upset that he was no longer welcome to stay at his uncle’s home in the 1800 block of Ramar Road, according to Emily Fromelt, spokeswoman for the Bullhead City police department.

Fromelt said the victim, Steven Patrick Anderson, 53, allowed his transient nephew to use his residence on occasion, in hope he’d turn his life around and get back on his feet someday.

Fromelt said Anderson asked Kelso to leave the property when he was behaving suspiciously a few days before the murder. She said Kelso was angry and commented that he would return to kill Anderson and his girlfriend.

Fromelt said the girlfriend was sleeping in another room when she heard the commotion before she saw Kelso fleeing on foot on Saturday, June 29. Anderson died of multiple stab wounds after he was rushed to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center.

Kelso was taken into custody on June 30, after he was spotted walking along King Street and Highway 95 in Mohave Valley.
