LHCPD releases names in officer-involved shooting

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Lake Havasu City Police Department has released the name of the Kingman police officer involved in a shooting last month. The agency says Sergeant Kenneth Morris has been with the Kingman Police Department for nine years.

Morris is on routine administrative leave and Lake Havasu police are conducting an independent investigation, both of which are normal procedures when officer-involved shootings are under review.

Kingman police initially responded to a domestic violence call at 7:40 p.m. on Dec. 29 at residence in the 1700 block of Golden Gate Ave.

“While officers were on the scene, a male subject exited the front of the residence holding a shotgun,” said Lake Havasu police sergeant Michael Terrinoni. “During the armed encounter, a Kingman Police Department officer ultimately discharged his duty-issued firearm, striking the subject.”

The wounded suspect identified as Andrew Romero, 39, was flown to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas where he is still undergoing treatment and was last listed in stable condition.
