MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College has a new honor society geared toward biology students, Beta Beta Beta-Epsilon Chi Gamma, also known as TriBeta. Fourteen students were celebrated during the inaugural induction ceremony among family, friends and MCC employees.
The honor society is for undergraduate students dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research.
Students inducted are as follows: Rachelle Brooks, Samantha Covey, Kris Favela, Taras Flowers, Alejandra Galaviz Sosa, Natasha Garrison, Laurie Johnson, Daniel McIntosh, Christine Mohrman, Mayra Rodriguez, Allison Smith, Templa Wanner, Sheena Waszkiewicz and Jennifer Schaefle.
“This honor society recognizes academic excellence and fosters a culture of scientific curiosity and altruistic service. Our inductees, already spearheading research and service projects, embody the spirit of innovation and community service. Supporting these students is in everyone’s interest and benefits all. We believe this society will open new doors of opportunity and inspire all students to strive for excellence,” said Eric Osborn, club advisor.
Members and advisors would also like to thank those who supported the organization and its students. The ceremony acknowledged graduate members as well, meaning members who were part of the honor society at their respective schools as undergraduate and graduate students, or current supportive faculty in the department. Graduate members included Dr. Tonya Jackson, Dr. Cesar Fuentes and Eric Osborn. Students were installed to the organization by Tribeta Vice President of the Western Region, Dr. Tony Schountz.
Inaugural club officers are Samantha Covey (president), Taras Flowers (vice president), Allison Smith (treasurer) and Christine Mohrman (historian).
