LAKE HAVASU CITY – There was too much applause to count and laughter to go along with it, at the Women and Wine Gratitude Awards. The Women and Wine Gratitude Awards took place on Thursday, March 14 at Shugrues Restaurant and Brewery Group.

The ceremony was hosted by Women with Willpower. It’s the organization that collaborates with local nonprofits in an effort to recognize and assist the financial needs of women. Women with Willpower helps women with an array of life’s challenges.

The group is a positive resource for women who have exerted every possible method, yet still find themselves struggling with difficult times. Requirements of the recipients is that they must be women residing in Lake Havasu for 90 days. In return, the nonprofit wants their recipients to “pay it forward” by spreading charity and being of service to Lake Havasu.

The Women and Wine Gratitude Awards was a lively occasion filled with wine tastings, food, conversation, and raffles. Most importantly, it was a celebration that honored three of the women of the group who have demonstrated selfless natures over the years.

The social distancing of the pandemic left their recognitions on the back burner for the past three years, however, the memories of these noble women remained in the hearts of Women with Willpower. Honorees were Ursula “Billie” Bruckner, Sheila Herpich, and Chelle Kandle. With their names engraved, all three ladies were awarded glass gratitude trophies.

The Women with Willpower emphasizes that their “hand up not a handout” is the magic that makes the nonprofit so unique. But president of the group Sherri Ashford wants the women of the community to know that difficult trials do not have to be a solo journey.

“A lot of people think that they are alone in their struggles, and we’re here to remind them that they are never alone.”
