DigIt Community Gardens hosting Southwestern Gardening Day

The Dig It Kingman Community Garden at 2301 Lillie Avenue invites the community to Southwestern Gardening Day on May 18 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. This children’s event features a special program presented by the Hualapai Cultural Green Arrow Gardening Project. They have agreed to share some of the Hualapai tribe’s traditions. Because of this special presentation, be present from start-to-finish, as each activity happens at a specific time. Creation of rain sticks will be from 9 a.m.-9:30 a.m. only. The Hualapai’s will be in traditional dress and will tell the story of “The Three Sisters”, demonstrate planting Native American Heirloom seeds, do a traditional drum song and then a garden blessing. From 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. there will be sampling fresh fry bread with a variety of toppings. Please plan to be there from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. for this educational two hour cultural event. Share this flyer with others that may be interested. For more information, please call Heather at 704–564-7849.
