A near seven-year prison term has been imposed for a Kingman man whose drug addiction led him on a year-long crime spree. Christopher Adcox, 30, leaves behind six young children, including 18-month-old twins.
Family members speaking during the March 15 sentencing hearing said Adcox was a productive citizen and responsible father before drugs took hold of his life. He racked up an assortment of charges in six different criminal cases that were resolved through a plea agreement.
“This year has been a rude awakening,” Adcox told Judge Billy Sipe. “I’ve missed priceless time with my kids.”
Defense attorney Julia Cassels said Adcox is a changed man, for the better, after nearly a year in the county jail has put him on the path of sobriety.
Adcox pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of possession of drug paraphernalia associated with his Feb., 2016 arrest for possessing a quarter-gram of methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty to attempted possession of dangerous drugs for sale for possessing about a half-ounce of meth when arrested again in May of that year.
Adcox also pleaded guilty to unlawful use of means of transportation and unlawful flight for leading law enforcement authorities in a chase of a stolen vehicle in April, 2017. Two other early 2017 criminal cases for possessing drug paraphernalia and a small amount of heroin were dismissed in the plea deal.
Judge Sipe ordered a prison term of six years and 10 months.
