45th Annual Run to the Sun is Oct. 18

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Get ready for five days of fun activities at this year’s Run to the Sun car show by Relics and Rods.† If you love classic cars and a good time, you will not want to miss this week.

In 1975, The Relics and Rods Car Club was founded by nine residents who all shared a love for†vintage†vehicles.† In the beginning stages of the group, the club would have meetings at the Chamber of Commerce and Kings Clipper Barber Shop, just to name a few.

By 1978, members of Relics and Rods put their first car show together. The show took place in the parking lot of the London Bridge Shopping Center. Today, Relics and Rods hosts their American Legion Open Cruise event.

This is a Havasu favorite that takes place every Saturday at Weinerschnitzel†from 11am to 1pm. The event is free to the public.

With the help from their many sponsors, Relics and Rods Car Club has previously donated over $250,000 with funds from shows to several community charities.†

Over the past few years, the group has donated to the Lake Havasu Chamber Foundation, H.A.V.E.N. House, and Parks and Recreations.† They have also provided donations to Lake Havasu’s high†school band to purchase new uniforms and much more.†

Titled† Camp-O-Rama, the show featured 28 cars. The show made its debut in the Spring but over time, it became an October event and became what is known today as “Run to the Sun.”†

The show can sometimes have as many as 1,000 cars displayed. This October, Relics and Rods will be celebrating their 45th annual Run to the Sun event.††

This event is well known as being one of the biggest car shows in the Southwest with over 800 cars from all over the country. Run to the Sun’s first day will be on a Wednesday beginning with their kickoff dinner at the London Bridge Convention Center.

Thursday there will be a poker run followed by their cruise night from 5pm to 9pm.† Friday is the show and shine car corral.†† There will even be a swap meet that day followed by dinner and dancing.

The celebrations will not end there, as the weekend promises to bring a ladies fashion show, beach party, a parade on McCullough Blvd, and much more.†

The 45th annual Run to the Sun event will begin on October 18th to October 22.† For a complete list of activities, please visit†Relics & Rods ñ Lake Havasu City, AZ (relicsandrods.com)
