Family reunited with dog after car theft

Heather Joy Ohlinger

Heather Joy Ohlinger, 39, of Kingman was arrested by Mohave County Sheriff’s Deputies on I-40 near Blake Ranch Road, Friday May 3. Deputies were called to a business location in the 900 block of Blake Ranch Road to investigate a possible automobile theft. It was determined while the automobile owners were inside the business someone stole their vehicle. The car owners stated that their dog was inside the car. MCSO dispatch released the vehicle make and license number, and deputies soon located the vehicle traveling along the Interstate. The individual driving was identified as Ohlinger. The dog was missing. Ohlinger stated she let the dog out of the car somewhere along I-40. A search for the animal by Animal Control and several deputies found no sign of the dog. On Sunday May 5, the owners of the dog were contacted by individuals living approximately four miles from the scene and were in custody of the dog. Owners and dog were reunited. Ohlinger remains in jail and the investigation is continuing.
