MOHAVE COUNTY – Area residents can legally grow marijuana in their sheds and backyards this spring and summer. Joe Kinnear has been measuring interest at his indoor-outdoor gardening Bull Mountain Hydro store at 1750 Butler Avenue in north Kingman.
“Oh man. Since Prop 207 passed, a lot of people are coming in. It’s not been overwhelming but it’s picked up. They want to cultivate their own cannabis,” Kinnear said. “I’m getting a lot of seniors coming in, surprisingly. Not only are they doing vegetable gardens but they’re really interested in cannabis now that it is legal.”
Kinnear said gardening is a wholesome hobby that people can safely enjoy through the isolation of the pandemic.
Kinnear said he carries a broad range of indoor and outdoor gardening supplies. They offer environmental chambers, grow tents, lighting equipment and much more.
Kinnear said he sold 192 different seed varieties last year and that his hottest selling item is special soil from Cloverdale, California. He said now is the perfect time to get ready for upcoming spring and summer grow seasons.
“It’s always good to start planning ahead for sure and then you can do indoor gardens to get starts ready to put out in the springtime,” Kinnear said.
Bull Mountain Hydro is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
