I live in Valle Vista and have experienced inaction from the daily newspaper and local Kingman fire chief and his employee as well as Mohave County Development Services (MCDS) concerning codes and enforcement. This has progressed to ignoring my concerns.
In September I wrote three different letters to the editor to the local daily newspaper concerning Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District (NACFD), requesting a meeting concerning fire protection in Valle Vista, primarily about lack of communication, existing fire hazards, and weed abatement. I was told that they could only publish one per month. To date, none have been published. Maybe if it is not all about politics and money, they might publish articles from their customers.
NACFD told me that they have policies in place, but when I asked for copies, I never got them. I am told that they have no money and no resources. Then why do they get nearly 30% of my county taxes each year? It seems that there may be intentional reluctance on the part of NACFD to respond to Valle Vista on any of our complaints. Why? Simply because we will soon have our own fire district.
I have filed several complains with MCDS concerning apparent code violations. I have waited for a response from the country on some of these for four months. I should be entitled to a copy of the status of that complaint and given at least a case or file number, and I should receive notification if it has been resolved.
It seems to me that Mohave County is practicing selective enforcement and perhaps even intentional deflection of issues.
