Members of the Dean W. Reiter Detachment #887, the Marine Corps League (MCL), who also happen to be members of the Kingman Young Marines are seen here presenting 100 Face Masks to the Kingman VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The masks were received by Health Technician Lee Elder, who is also the Chaplain for the MCL Detachment.
Commandant Terry Flanagan noted that with limited supplies of personal safety items for medical personnel, first responders and others on the front line, we had to make a choice as we can’t cover all the personnel who serve. We chose those that are most at risk in serving our veteran’s community at our local VA. For whatever reason it appears that the VA is unable to obtain masks from the federal stock piles, so we felt that it is only proper that the Marines, known as the “First To Fight”, supply items that can be used by our local VA staff who serve on the front lines of this new battle.
Christina Poland, Assistant Nurse Manager for the Kingman CBOC noted that the local VA just can’t go online and purchase supplies, it must go through government procurement procedures. Any help from the community is welcome in keeping our veterans safe. Masks can be dropped off at the VA outpatient clinic at 2668 Hualapai Mtn Rd, Kingman.
