MOHAVE COUNTY – The tourism sector of the economy is quite vulnerable to the coronavirus. Spring events that draw thousands of people to the tri-state area are being postponed if not canceled due to social distancing protocols and travel restrictions.
Kingman Tourism Services Manager Josh Noble said he was advised that the annual Harley River Run is still scheduled but that major Kingman-based events such as the annual Home and Garden show in April and the Route 66 Fun Run in early May have been shut down.
“I think we were looking at the CDC’s eightweek recommended guideline for events of 250 or more,” Noble said. “We didn’t want to take on the liability of putting the Fun Run on and maybe having something happen.”
Noble said April’s First Friday and Chillin’ on Beale Street events in downtown Kingman are also canceled.
