Dear Editor,
Hello Downtown, Downtown Merchants, Visitors, Guests of Kingman, Tourists, if this Standard Newspaper article does not bring a tear to your eye and bring out a raft of emotions in you from anger, bitterness, vitriol, disbelief, unfathomable, what the hell is going on, what’s the matter with our city, etc., you are probably not alive.
We have waited 100 years for the opportunity to show off our city that resides along the Mother Road, Route 66, known globally as THE HEART OF ROUTE 66.
We just spent $7.7 million in our Downtown Kingman on Beale Street, in an award-winning project to beautify, update, radically change and improve our Downtown and they are going to put this most important event of the year, the decade, the century in a park 2.3 miles away from our downtown?
Incredulous, unbelievable, astounding and what the hell is so wrong with our Downtown Kingman that our city is actually contemplating holding this major event, the 2026 Rte 66 fest up in that dog park a.k.a. Lewis Park, 2.3 miles away from our Downtown?
Call our city leaders, email them. This should not and cannot happen in our city of Kingman.

I don’t want any public festivals to be held anywhere near that Confederate Flag store.
