Bogart, Bacall featured for movie night

KINGMAN – The Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) will host their monthly movie night on Friday, Aug. 23 beginning at 6 p.m. This month’s featured movie is “To Have and Have Not” from 1944, starring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Walter Brennan. Steve Conn will provide historical and behind-the-scenes commentary before the movie starts. Family and friends are welcome. A $2 donation per person benefits KHAC’s various programs. Master Gardener’s workshop is Aug. 7

KINGMAN – The Kingman Master Gardeners will host a free workshop on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mohave County Extension Office, 101 E. Beale St. Topics include the do’s and don’ts for fall clean up winter veggies and what to grow in Kingman, and how the enter the Mohave County Fair. The workshop is free and open to the public. Grand award helps fund transport vehicle

MOHAVE COUNTY  – For the Luv of Paws Domestic Animal Rescue & Sanctuary has been awarded a $7,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its lifesaving work in Mohave County. The investment will enable the purchase of a transport vehicle to transport dogs and cats to adoption events; implement a TNR program in collaboration with veterinarians; and assist the pickup of large donations. “For the Luv of Paws thanks the Petco Foundation for investing in its lifesaving efforts,” said Director Cherie DaLynn.
