Dear Editor,
Now that the conspiracy theories about the election have been thoroughly debunked, one would think the conservative republicans moaning, groaning and sniveling should subside. Donald J. Trump may honestly add loser to his already stellar curriculum vitae.
It remains amazing, even incomprehensible to me, how people prefer to obtain their news from social media or other questionable sources. The adherents believe the dubious information, without bothering to investigate. Yet they will doubt, even condemn as false, credible sources of proven facts from individuals who have spent years educating themselves studying the issues. Thanks to letters written to and printed in The Standard, we see evidence of this weekly. Like conspiracy theories that face masks are ineffective, a child trafficking operation from a pizza shop exits and purportedly know how a Biden/Harris administration will conduct operations.
It seems the cult-like influence of the current administration has resulted in a good portion of the population’s loss of the ability to think for themselves. Yet these advocates will rely on the misinformation fed to them by a deceitful, albeit somewhat charismatic leader.
We all recall four years ago when Trump began his reign by (falsely) claiming the Obama administration had surveilled him in Trump Tower. Once again America’s political process has become the laughing stock of the world because of Trump’s spoiled, childish refusal to accept defeat and begin the, up til now, smooth transfer of leadership.
Here is a conspiracy theory to ponder Trump is rearranging the top military brass in order to affect a military coup and install himself as the modern equivalent of Adolph Hitler, dictator of the free world. Is this what we as a nation desire?

Debunked? Did I miss the results of all the court cases?
