I came from the “Land of Lincoln” which is Illinois if you didn’t know that. Illinois isn’t spotted with mountains or cactus for sure. Actually, its primarily flatland. But Illinois is filled with farmland, and corn fields are everywhere as far as the eye can see. Most of the farms are family farms, not giant corporations which is a beautiful thing. Farmers are hardworking people for sure, and every spring the seeds are planted, and every fall there is a harvest. But the payoff for the farmer is that he reaps in the fall more than he sowed in the spring.
God’s word talks about sowing and reaping with absolute clarity. Let’s be honest, as the people of God that hold to a biblical worldview, and admit that what is going on in our world and more specifically in America, is we are reaping the consequences of what we have sowed and have sowed for decades. But remember the nature of “sowing and reaping” is always to reap more than what had been sown, just like the farmer. Note the scripture.
Hosea 8:7a For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.
Proverbs 22:8 Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail.
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
6:8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
America is reaping a great harvest for sure. As we look around, we find our great country with a national debt that is out of control. Our families have been divided and torn apart. America aborts roughly three thousand babies a day. Our schools have become indoctrination centers for the far left. Marriage is outdated and shunned. Illegal drugs are rampant and destroying the fabric of a free society. Sexually transmitted diseases are growing exponentially by the millions every year. Our cities are war zones and run by gangs. Pornography is funneled into our homes, but we call it entertainment. Government corruption and waste is phenomenal. Boys wanting to be girls and girls wanting to be boys. Suicide skyrocketing. Depression at an alltime high. Today many of our leaders call evil good and good evil. These are just a few symptoms of our nation’s problem, not the problem itself. Yes symptoms!
Let me be clear, the cure is not more money, better schools, free healthcare, tuition free colleges, pre-existing conditions, more laws, term limits, or any number of political talking points. The problem, the true problem is found in the scriptures. We have denied God! We have denied God, and now are reaping the consequences. We are reaping a whirlwind. America, we can expect more of the same. God have mercy and He actually has been very patient but even that has its limits.
Will God heal the soul of America is not the question. The question is will Americans repent, trust in the Lord, and walk in His ways? Until we do, we can expect a great harvest of the same wickedness we’re experiencing now. I suggest we start where God told His people to start centuries ago.
2Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
