This & That Antiques & Collectibles nestles itself inside a quaint old cottage on Beale Street. Unlike the other store fronts of Downtown Kingman, This & That sits back in its own world inviting guests into its warmth and treasure-filled rooms. When entering, you can smell what it might have smelled like in a 1930s loving brick home.
Pam and Dave, the owners, are welcoming and smile fondly as if you were an old friend having come back from a long trip. They are there to offer help and tell stories of the items around the shop. Pam usually will say, “Hi! How are you today? Well, that’s fabulous! If you need anything or have anything questions, we’re here to help!” To your left, there stands tall a wooden hutch. Dave pops in and boasts like a proud father, “This is from 1830s Poland. It was in shambles, but I restored it. Favorite piece in the shop.”
As you step into the multiple rooms, you notice they have different themes. The kitchen is filled with dishes and decorations. The dessert dishes are colorful and retro, and Pam tells you, “You know, they stopped making these in the 50s. No cracks or scratches. They’re just beautiful.” Walking into what would have been a garage, you notice all the furniture, restored to its old glory. Dave has put hard work into each piece, knowing that these antiques deserve love, care, and a new owner.
Pam and Dave, the owners, met as most people do, by chance. After living in California for a time, they knew they wanted to move to a small town, like the one he grew up in New Mexico. During a trip, they were driving through little Kingman and knew that this would be the place they would call home. Pam thought the people in town were extremely friendly and invested in each other, which was what she was missing in her home state of California.
They came upon This & That like any antique shopper might—they walked through the door. This & That had been owned by another couple, and after talking with them for a bit, the owners offered a room to Pam and Dave. After some time, and an additional room later, the previous owners wished to retire and pass the shop down. They decided Pam and Dave would take care best, and with disbelief, the new couple took the shop and made their dreams come true on Valentine’s Day of 2019.
With all the diversity and 10 rooms, anyone can find something they love. In fact, when people get excited about a new treasure, Pam gets just as excited. She loves talking about the history of the goods she finds and hearing personal experiences others might have had as well. Working inside the shop six days a week, Pam and Dave have a personal connection with each and every item they showcase. Pam especially loves the linens she collects—each design specifically handmade with love and care by women who practiced this lost art. The designs are beautifully crafted, and crisp with a bit of Pam’s own love and care. This & That Antiques & Collectibles is a place you can feel at home in. They continue to collect and sell so many diverse items of the past. This & That Antiques & Collectibles is located on 534 E. Beale St. in Kingman. Pam and Dave are always happy to see you, but especially Tuesdays-Thursdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Come explore the history they brought home and maybe you can make a little history yourself.
