Duarte gets two years for voyeurism

A judge in Kingman imposed a two year prison sentence last Wednesday, rejecting a request for probation by a Mohave Valley man who pleaded guilty to voyeurism for using his cell phone to take pictures up and underneath the dress of a female customer at Walmart last September. Hiker Fatality on South Kaibab Trail in Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon, AZ-  On June 24 at approximately 5:36 p.m., the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received a call reporting a fatality approximately half a mile above the Tip Off resthouse on the South Kaibab Trail. CPR was initiated and National Park Service personnel responded from the South Rim via helicopter. The victim, Catherine Houe, 49, of Daly City, California was hiking into the canyon to spend the night at Phantom Ranch. MOHAVE COUNTY – Dozens of people have applied for the Mohave County Manager position that Mike Hendrix will vacate for retirement on June 30. Human Resources Director Ken Cunningham said a national recruiting campaign netted 44 job applications by Wednesday. “They’re from all over the nation. They’re not just local,” Cunningham said of the applicant field. Cunningham said a four-member hiring selection committee includes Presiding Superior Court Judge Chuck Gurtler, Sheriff Doug Schuster, County Attorney Matt Smith and retired Kingman Unified School District Superintendent Roger Jacks. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Havasu Community Health Foundation (HCHF) will be celebrating with their 25th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.  In the U.S., this yearly event has also been referred to as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). NBCAM was created in 1985 in collaboration with the American Cancer Society and the pharmaceutical division with Imperial Chemical Industries.  They are now affiliated with AstraZeneca who distributes many anti-breast cancer medications.
