LAKE HAVASU CITY – Millions suffer with mental health symptoms every year. The rate of those seeking care is currently on the rise. These facts not only affect the people suffering, they can also affect families and communities.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is an organization that strives to help individuals affected by mental health. Within 45 years, they have created advocacy in communities through public awareness and education so that families and individuals can lead healthier lives.
The NAMI family support group is led by a support team who have had personal struggles with mental health conditions. Through these meetings, individuals learn about success stories and how to rise above their own challenges.
The meetings are free to all participants. Meetings usually last from sixty to ninety minutes.
Treatment and medical therapy is not used and all information in the meetings is strictly confidential. NAMI of Lake Havasu held family support meetings in the past 22 years.
Family support meetings are held every Thursday from 12:30pm to 2pm at Clothes Closet. The next upcoming meeting will be on Thursday, January 11 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. NAMI support groups in Lake Havasu can be reached by emailing namihavasu@gmail.com.
