Drive-thru nativity scene open

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with New Hope Calvary Church’s Live Drive Through Nativity event. New Hope Calvary Church is a church that keeps their doors open to the community. They offer fellowships for adults and ministries for children.

Since 1992, their live drive through nativity event has captured the hearts of many during the holiday season.  The church’s event coordinator Carol McDougall arranged the event for many years until 2021.

Since then, the event has been arranged by board member of New Hope Calvary Charlie Stickney. Stickney, along with his wife Bree, began gathering props as early as August all in preparation for this moving annual occasion.

Using a live cast, Christmas carols, and animals, the live drive-thru nativity will show the nativity cycle depicted in the bible.

During dusk, nine scenes can be viewed, and the church will be using luminary lighting for their road to Bethlehem. The drive-thru will be on Friday and Saturday, December 15 and 16 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at New Hope Calvary Church.

The members of New Hope Calvary Church want to share this experience with the community to honor saints Joseph and Mary and the birth of Jesus Christ. The nativity event still holds a special place in the heart of Mcdougall.

“Nativity is always such a blessing. We see God move in so many ways and touch the hearts of so many with the true meaning of Christmas which is salvation and hope through Jesus Christ. I’m very thankful I could be part of it for so many years.”

Stickeny enjoys seeing the expressions of the attendees for the annual display. “The reactions from the audience are truly moving.  We love seeing their tears of happiness and joy”
