Dot Foods celebrates one-year anniversary at BHC facility

BULLHEAD CITY – It’s operation in Bullhead City represents the most successful  start up in Dot Foods distribution facility history, according to plant manager Rocky Vecera. Training activity at the 190,000 square foot warehouse began in late Jan. last year, the facility began taking in food product a month later before shipping started last March.

“Things are going very well here. We’re actually way ahead of where we thought we would be on our hiring plan,” Vecera said. “We’re ahead of where we thought we’d be in our volume, which is basically how much product we’re receiving and shipping.”

An initial workforce of 85 people has more than doubled over the year. Vecera said 190 people work at the Bullhead City distribution center – about 65 truck drivers, the same number of warehouse workers and 60 administrative and support personnel.

Vecera said employment will top 200 by the summer once the facility takes on additional service territory from California. He said Dot Foods and Bullhead City have forged a great partnership.

“The acceptance in the area, the welcome that we’ve received is still very well felt,” Vecera said. “We continue to support the community through non-profit donations and some of our leadership team being involved in different non-profit organizations and we’re part of the community.”
