Dear Editor,
In the latest Mohave County voter count, registered Republicans increased to 60,318, almost 50% of the record 125 thousand voters The October 1 totals by Voter Registration confirms the trend of increasing Republican Party registrations since January 2016.
Less than four years ago, Republican registrations were under 45,000 voters; virtually unchanged since 2010, the result of cleaning voter rolls. County Recorder Kristi Blair has been outstanding at cleaning up the rolls. It’s outstanding we now exceed 60,000.
By contrast, Democrat registration has decreased dramatically. Current Democrat registrations total 20,653; but that number was 40% higher in January 2011, over 28,000.
The gap between Republicans and Democrats in Mohave County has grown significantly. While the Republicans have jumped 35% since 2016, the Democrat totals are virtually unchanged. Republicans had an advantage then, now we’re triple the Democrats. President Trump is a key reason for increased GOP numbers. Any idea of Democrats making inroads in Mohave County, was wishful thinking.
With the recent move to 2116 Stockton Hill Rd, District 1 Republicans are getting even more engaged. The office will continue to register voters, answer voters’ questions, and help them contact elected officials. Further, candidate meet-n-greet events, and forums will be scheduled for next year. We’re not sitting on our laurels; we’re much more active than ever before.
The District will host a Grand Re-Opening party on Thursday October 17 at 3:00-6:00 PM, with an open house and live music that afternoon. This will be the official kickoff of the 2020 elections with several local candidates & elected officials speaking. We’re looking for people who want make a difference; 2020 will be a huge election.
Steve Robinson
District 1 Director
