Prior child abuse, domestic violence convictions considered A 16-month prison term was imposed in an arson case Friday, March 8 for a Golden Valley woman dealing with a variety of mental health issues. Heather Amundson, 39, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted arson for setting a fire following an argument with her boyfriend where they lived together in the 600 block of Vaquero Drive. Mohave County Sheriff Doug Schuster has announced the formation of a Sheriff’s Advisory Council. This group of individuals was selected by Sheriff Schuster and his staff. The group meets monthly with the Sheriff’s Office Command Staff to discuss agency concerns and share life experiences with the intent of problem solving many issues that arise. Anderson convicted of first degree murder

Federal authorities report that a drug dealing rivalry was the motivation for the 2014 shooting death of a woman on the Colorado River Indian Reservation. A jury on March 5 convicted Mickey Roy Anderson, 30, of Parker of first degree murder, burglary and a firearms offense. “Anderson walked into the victim’s home, stood a few feet from the victim and shot her in the face. A judge said that it is a “travesty” that a Mohave Valley man spent 19 months in custody before he was acquitted of the most serious criminal charges at his trial that concluded on Feb. 7. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert said neither he nor the jury found the victim’s accounts and testimony to be credible. Krivak sentenced to 11 years after endangering children

Defense attorney Weston Meeth said alcohol dependency is the “recurring theme” of three criminal cases in three years that send a Fort Mohave woman to the Arizona Department of Corrections. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle imposed an 11-year prison sentence on March 5 for Roxanne Krivak, 36. Krivak was placed on probation for driving drunk in 2015 when her five year-old son was a passenger. Attorney General Mark Brnovich wants to warn Arizonans about pet adoption scams. “Every year, we learn about con artists taking advantage of consumers through internet pet scams,” said Attorney General Mark Brnovich. “Sometimes they post fake ads for pets that do not exist or they sell a pet that turns out to be very sick.
