UniSource Energy Services electric customers will enjoy summer bill savings that average more than $21 per month thanks to reduced natural gas and power prices. The Arizona Corporation Commission approved UniSource’s request to apply an energy cost credit of 1.85 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to its electric bills from June 1 to Sept. 30. A new National Park Service report shows that 7.6 million visitors to Lake Mead National Recreation Area in 2018 spent an estimated $336 million in local gateway communities while visiting the park. These expenditures supported a total of 3,990 jobs, $149 million in labor income, $247 million in value added and $397 million in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Lake Mead National Recreation Area. A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that the 6.3 million visitors to Grand Canyon National Park in 2018 spent $947 million in communities near the park. The National Park Service is seeking public comment on a draft plan that provides recommendations to improve accessibility of visitor services at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.  An interdisciplinary team, including park and regional staff, identified key park experiences and park areas to determine which areas would be evaluated for accessibility needs. The team then developed implementation strategies for improving accessibility at each location.  The plan will guide changes to the way existing services, activities and programs are provided in multiple locations throughout Lake Mead National Recreation Area by defining what barriers limit accessibility and by providing recommendations on how…

Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) will launch a new electronic health record system on Saturday, June 1, 2019. An electronic health record (EHR) is a digital version of a patient’s chart, including the patient’s complete health history. Since 2018, KRMC has been working with Meditech™ – a Boston-based company specializing in hospital and health care information systems – to create a custom EHR for KRMC’s specific needs.  The new EHR system at KRMC is called One Care. “Our system is now equivalent to the technology used by large urban hospitals,” says KRMC Chief Information Officer, Arek Shennar. Necessary zoning changes are pending for a company planning to develop three travel center and truck stop projects along Interstate 40 outside Kingman. Mohave County Supervisors will take up the requests from Petroleum Wholesale, L.P., of The Woodlands, Texas during their board meeting next Monday. The county planning and zoning commission is recommending approval after considering the requests during its May 22 meeting. Two of the projects are proposed 20 miles east of Kingman at Blake Ranch Road, both north and south of Interstate 40.
