The Meaning of the Season

The Christmas holiday season is upon us. It’s a busy time of the year for many, decorating the house, gift buying, holiday parties, and of course lots of food. We are trying to find the perfect gift for our family members without going too far in debt. We are invited to many holiday parties and are busy cooking and baking. For many of us the holiday season means we will gain an extra 5 pounds. With all that goes on this time of year many people tend to get so busy and stressed that we forget the true meaning of the season.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV) Stop a moment and reread the previous sentence. God Love You! He loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus to teach us how to live and to pay the price for our sins.

You are taking time to read this article, which I appreciate. I want you to take another moment and think about how much God loves you. Most of us would be willing to die to protect our children and spouse, maybe even other family members. How many of us would be willing to give up our life for a complete stranger?  God loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die to pay the price for your sins.

It does not matter what you have done in your life. It does not matter how many mistakes you’ve made in your life; God loves you. He loves you. I want you to understand the love that God has for you. We think of the bad things we have done in life. We think that there is no way that God could love me, but He does.

The second part of John 3:16 say’s, “that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” It doesn’t say the righteous, the religious, the good hearted; it says whosoever. So, who is a whosoever? You are. Everyone is. That is how much God loves you. No matter your past, no matter your shortcomings, no matter any excuse you can think of God loves you.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Rome, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10 NKJV)

You see God loves you so much, He gives us the free gift of eternal salvation if we believe and confess that Jesus is His son. We accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. I invite you to come visit me at Oak Street Baptist Church or call me if you have any questions about how much God loves you.
