Barlow spared from prison sentence

COLORADO CITY – A Colorado City man avoided a two- to five-year prison term during his August 14 sentencing hearing for a sex offense involving a 24-year-old girl. Delbert Barlow, 55, previously pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault.

Barlow allegedly groped the victim as she slept on the couch at a Colorado City home on South Hammon Street on Dec. 25, 2023.

Sailley convicted of assault charges in domestic violence case

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man who took the witness stand with confidence Friday morning at his bench trial in Kingman unraveled hours later when the Court began convicting him of violence involving his former longtime partner and mother of his child. Kenneth Sailley, 29, appeared a mix of bewildered and agitated as Judge Doug Camacho articulated reasons he was finding him guilty of two aggravated assault counts, assault and kidnapping.

Upgrades coming for Palo Christi school building

KINGMAN – A Scottsdale-based firm will breathe new life into the historic Palo Christi Elementary school in downtown Kingman. Sun Valley Builders has been awarded a $5.24-million bid to renovate portions of the building located at 500 Maple St.

Head, Holmes stroll down memory lane as BHC’s anniversary party nears

BULLHEAD CITY – Rodney Head and Robin Holmes patrolled Bullhead City for the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) long before the Colorado River community incorporated 40 years ago in late Aug., 1984.

Holmes had a harsh introduction to the desert after moving from coastal California to work the Bullhead City district for the MCSO in 1976.

“It was so desolate and the wind was like 400 miles an hour and the dust flying everywhere,” Holmes recalled.

Carter takes plea in shooting death

KINGMAN – A Golden Valley man pleaded not guilty to second degree murder during his Aug. 19 arraignment in Mohave County Superior Court. Kenneth Carter, 36, is charged in the Aug. 2 shooting death of David Roberts.

Sheriff’s Office personnel responding at 12:43 a.m. located the victim dead at the scene inside his home in the 3800 block of Diabase Drive.
