Business openings projected for Kingman

KINGMAN – New beverage, burrito, burger and shopping options are on the horizon for Kingman. Economic Development Manager Sylvia Shaffer said Culver’s is set to open in mid-December on Airway Avenue just east of Cracker Barrel.

Shafer told Economic Development Advisory Commissioner members during their Nov. 24 meeting that Cal Ranch should open inside the old Kmart building on Andy Devine Avenue next February or March. She said Dutch Bros is expected to open in March north of True Value on Stockton Hill Road, on the same parcel where Filiberto’s should open in June.

“This is good retail coming and we are working on more,” Shaffer said. “What’s so amazing about this is a lot of these we’ve been working with these people for about 3 years or more and it’s really great to see them finally land.”

Shaffer said two businesses have constructed Parklets in downtown Kingman. She said platforms have been constructed on Beale St. outside Rickety Cricket and Diana’s Cellar Door Wine Bar, allowing outdoor customer activity.

“What that did is add some square feet to their business and extended their premises for them to serve outdoors being that we all have to follow the COVID guidelines at this time. This presented a good opportunity for their businesses,” Shaffer said.

Tourism Services Manager Josh Noble reported that Kingman motel occupancy rates compare favorably in Sept. and Oct.

“It was 74%. That was 8% above what it was last year and our rates were up by about 1%,” Noble said. “Overall revenue from the rooms was about 9% up. So, compared to a national average occupancy for the month of Sept. at 48%. We’re doing quite a bit better.
