Maria Elena McEuen (Carr) was born on October 25, 1963 in Jacksonville, Florida to James and Loretta Carr. As one of eight children, Maria was a spunky and mischievous child who enjoyed playing outside. She graduated from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

In 1984 Maria joined the United States Army as a Military Police Specialist. She was a patrolman on Fort Gordon. During her time in the service, she met Robert H. McEuen Jr. After only knowing each other 3 months, the two requested permission to leave base to be married on August 3rd, 1985. While reluctant, their superior granted them permission, but added to “not blame him” if it didn’t work out. Rob and Maria celebrated 38 years together last August.

After receiving an Honorable Discharge, the couple settled in Kingman, Arizona. Maria began her career with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office where she rose to the rank of Assistant Director of Operation at the Mohave County Jail before her retirement in 2016. She specialized in the “Fugitives and Warrants” department, handling the transportation of inmates for court proceedings and facility transfers. During her time, she was well-respected by co-workers and inmates for being firm yet fair and her “give no crap, take no crap” attitude.

In 1986 Maria became a mother when she gave birth to son, Robert Joseph (Joey). 1year later, Maria had a daughter, Meagan Marie. Rob and Maria enjoyed teaching their children the love of the outdoors, going camping and fishing in Williams, AZ as often as possible.

Rob and Maria moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2017 to enjoy their retirement. Maria enjoyed being close to her siblings and extended family. One of her favorite pastimes was going on a walk over the Sister’s Creek Bridge, which she did almost daily, and having large low country boils.

In 2019, the couple moved back to Kingman to be closer to their grandchildren. Maria enjoyed having her family over for dinners and ‘shenanigans’- her take on banana splits. Maria was an avid sports lover, she enjoyed watching all types, but football was her favorite. Her heart belonged to the Florida Gators and Atlanta Braves.

Maria passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024 at her home in Kingman surrounded by her family. She was 60 years old.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, James and Loretta.

Maria is survived by her husband, Robert McEuen; siblings, Mary (Chuck) Taylor, Kelly Carr, Darren (Karen) Carr, Sean (Leiah) Carr, Kathy (Charles) Whittaker, Jimmy (Rhonda) Carr, and Michael Carr; children, Joey (Bradlee) McEuen and Meagan (Josh) Rhodes; grandchildren Phillip and Haydin Mulligan, Aubrey and Tyler McEuen, and Beau Rhodes; and many nieces and nephews.
