BULLHEAD CITY – On Thursday, April 25 at 4:15 p.m., 948 Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) members in the North Square of Golden Shores/Topock experienced an outage for 1 hour and 33 minutes caused by a microburst that blew an awning into the power lines.

Crews patrolled the lines, cleared the awning, and closed the circuit breaker, restoring power to members at 5:48 p.m.

Other outages during windy weather can be caused by trees making contact with power lines, and broken poles. “It is very important that residents secure their homes, landscaping and yard decorations for the safety of not only the electrical lines, but also other residential items especially during monsoon season,” said Jerry Hardy, MEC Manager of Engineering and Operations.

Outage restoration is important to Mohave Electric Cooperative. Please remember, there are many ways to report an outage.
