As your Mohave County Treasurer, I am excited to bring you this month’s County Corner and share with you exciting news about the 2024 Board of Supervisors Tax Deed Sale auction!

The Tax Deed Sale is a competitive online auction that is held through the Public Surplus website with the highest bidder of each auction winning the parcel of land. By selling tax deeded parcels at auction, the purchased parcels are then returned to the Mohave County tax roll helping to generate property tax revenues that otherwise would not have been received. Only vacant land was offered at the auction.

This year’s Tax Deed Sale was held from March 4th through March 8th, 2024 and was a tremendous success for the County! Of the 2,895 parcels that were taken to auction, 2,792 parcels were sold, representing an astounding 96% of the total! The sale generated $2,375,713 for the County with proceeds going towards unpaid taxes, interest, penalties, fees, and costs attributed with taking the parcels to auction. An estimated $1.5 million will be going to the Mohave County General Fund. This was Mohave County’s most successful Tax Deed Sale to date!

The work involved to not only bring these parcels to auction, process and record the new deeds, and update County systems with the new parcel ownership could not happen without the combined efforts of many. A special thanks goes out to the Assessor’s Office, Development Services, Office of the Clerk of the Board, Recorder’s Office, and my amazing team in the  Treasurer’s Office!

As a reminder, the due date for the second half installment of 2023 property taxes is due now and become delinquent after May 1, 2024.

Our office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Property taxes can be paid online, by mail, in-person at Kingman’s Mohave County Administration building or by phone by calling Point and Pay at (855) 814-6451.
