BHC to fill vacant council seat

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Council has taken preliminary steps to deal with the vacancy created by the death of Vice Mayor Norma Brummett. Brummett died at the age of 73 on May 2, after battling cancer.
Retired police chief and council member Rodney Head was selected as the new Vice Mayor during the May 6 Bullhead City Council meeting. The council also adopted a familiar course of events in selecting a successor, as the City has replaced five council members in two years, three times due to the deaths of elected officials.
Interested Bullhead City residents have until May 26 to submit letters of interest in being appointed to serve out Brummett’s term through the November, 2024. Eligible applicants will be invited to provide short statements and answer questions from members during a special Thursday, June 8 meeting of the city council.
It is anticipated the council will make a selection decision at the June 8 meeting, with the appointee being sworn into office at the regular council meeting on June 20.
